Lots of other internet playback available, YouTube also but the playback picture is smaller as would be expected for those lower resolutions. You can spend all day just using the internet features. These do require signing up with Sony s Bravia service free. BluRay and DVD playback is great, and as usual for these Sony boxes, they play any disc that is thrown at them. That being said, startup is a little slower than the DVD unit we replaced, but not too out of line. The 10 sec replay button is really handy and navigation is pretty straightforward. Using an HDMI connection, the BluRay video quality is equal to or better than the HD reception from the Dish network DVR. Surround sound is great also. This box is chock full of features, adjustments, and settings, and I doubt I ll ever get to half of them. Upon initial startup with the Internet connection, it detected it needed a firmware update, downloaded, installed, and I was watching a DVD within 10 minutes very easy to use. Annoyances: Some of the menu pop-ups are too slow to go away for example, after selecting a scene the selection menu will sit blocking the bottom of the screen for about 5 seconds before it goes away. The BD-Live feature doesn t work very well, it would not work with either of the 2 or 4Gig SanDisk thumb drives I used, crashing while downloading an HD trailer. Download speed is very slow as well, so this feature is not pleasant to use and I gave up on it after the first few tries. I can t figure why, since the Netflix stream is fine, but really haven t missed it. It would also be nice if the remote also had an eject button for the disk I miss that from the old players. And as someone mentioned, it forgets where it was if you turn off the power in the middle of a disc. I suppose most of these can likely be fixed by future firmware updates there have been at least two additional since setup. Overall, an excellent buy, and I am very satisfied with this product. Five stars for quality and functionality, minus half a star for the annoyances. This is my first Blu-Ray player, which I bought at Costco on-sale just before Christmas. I also bought my first HDTV at that time a 42 1080 Panasonic plasma, at Sears, of all places, also on sale. I love Amazon but for a big screen TV, I paid the 9% sale tax for the piece of mind of an easy return if needed, and Costco s 90 day, no questions asked return policy allowed me a test drive the player, while I waited for the LG BD-390 to come down from the stratospheric, jacked up current prices supply and demand. Now, however, I am thinking about keeping this Sony player.
